Culture vultures, take note! The week ahead is packed with events to satisfy your creative soul.
A scene from “Cabaret”

1. Kurt Weismair
O.C.’s water warriors should not miss the chance to meet the self-taught artist, who specializes in contemporary seascapes of Laguna Beach and says his life as a creative revolves around the ocean. He’ll be at Cove Gallery Aug. 4 for a 6pm unveiling of his works, which will be on display through the end of the month.

2. American Mosaic: Picturing Modern Art Through the Eye of Duncan Phillips
Get a creative glimpse at the history of modernism and abstract expressionism Aug. 6, when the Orange County Museum of Art opens an exhibition of works from Georgia O’Keeffe and other artists who produced their pieces between the 1860s and 1960s.

3. Orchid Arrangement Workshop
A beautiful floral arrangement is, indeed, a work of art. And Aug. 6 at 10am, Onita Castillo and Cathy McEntire will show you how to create your own gorgeous arrangement using these lovely blooms at Roger’s Gardens.

4. Cabaret
Life’s a “Cabaret” during the famed musical’s local run Aug. 9 to 21 at Segerstrom Hall. Here, the award-winning Roundabout Theatre Co. performs numbers like “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time”—tunes that made the original Broadway production an instant hit.

5. Festival Ballet Theatre: Gala of the Stars
Dancers from as far as Russia (Xander Parish, among them) sparkle alongside the local troupe when they take the stage at Irvine Barclay Theatre Aug. 12 at 6pm. It’s always a sold-out soiree (tickets $65-$75), and VIPs (tickets $200) enjoy a dinner with the performers.
